Google and Huawei Is Looking At A Potential Class-Action Lawsuit Over Boot-Looping Nexus 6P Units
Caezar SottoThe makers of the Nexus 6P is apparently in the center of a potential class-action lawsuit. Huawei and Google are facing complaints about the Nexus device's apparent hardware and software issues.
According to a blog by XDA Developers, an issue is emerging from several Nexus 6P devices. The premier handset allegedly shuts down despite having enough battery in the system.
Apparently, several people are frustrated with the situation that purportedly started after updating their devices to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Some Nexus 6P users have noted that the phone has been acting erratically since the updating to the new firmware. Moreover, the situation managed to make the device unusable for its owners.
According to Inquisitr, the potential class-action suit from Chimizles & Tikellis LLP alleged that users that attempted to reach out to Huawei found themselves redirected to Google.
Users that reached for answers said that Huawei told them that the problem is software related. Allegedly, the Chinese company reiterated that their devices do not have any issues.
However, according to the law firm, the affected devices still continued to shut down despite having a software downgrade. Furthermore, Hot Hardware reported that faulty hardware could have caused the occurring problem.
While tech experts are still determining the cause of the boot-looping issue, affected users are demanding answers from both Google and the Chinese phone manufacturer.
The issue is now live in Google's issue tracker, however, despite the number of complaints, it currently has a "Low Priority Tag." Moreover, the tracker also stated that there is "No indication of an upcoming fix," for the affected Nexus 6P devices.
Aside from the Nexus 6P, other brands have also been reportedly showing the same erratic issue. LG is facing a similar class-action suit over boot-looping G4, G5, and Nexus 5X devices. Similar reports have also indicated a few number of LG V10 and V20 smartphones behaving in the same way.
If Google and Huawei continue to play hard, there is a possibility of the potential lawsuit coming to life. Stay tuned for updates.
