Vinay PatelLast month, Apple ousted the iPad Air 2 in favor of its recently launched 9.7-inch iPad. The new tablet carries a reasonable price tag of INR 28,900 (about $450), which is also the device's USP (unique selling point).
iPad fanatics looking to pre-order the 2017 iteration of the iPad can head straight to Flipkart, an Indian electronic commerce company. Here's everything you need to know about the recently launched iPad that essentially replaces the aged iPad Air lineup.
Apple 9.7-inch iPad Price In India
The Apple 9.7-inch iPad will be up for grabs in two variants including a Wi-Fi only, priced at INR 28,900 (about $450) and a Wi-Fi+Cellular model priced at INR 39,990 (about $622). Also, consumers can choose from an array of Polyurethane Smart Covers for the new iPad by shelling out an additional INR 3,700 (about $58).
It's worth nothing that the Wi-Fi version of the now-defunct iPad Air 2 was launched in India for INR 35,900, which converts to about $558, and the Wi-Fi+Cellular variant was sold for INR 45,900 (about $714). The 9.7-inch iPad will be available in a wide range of colors including pink sand, midnight blue, white and charcoal gray, BGR reported.

As far as design is concerned, the 9.7-inch iPad bears a striking resemblance to the tablet it's replacing i.e. the iPad Air 2. At 7.5mm, the new tablet is marginally thicker than the iPad Air 2, which was 6.1mm thick. Also, the new tablet weighs in at 469 grams, which is slightly heavier than 437 grams iPad Air 2.
Specifications largely remain unchanged except for one vital difference -- processor. The 2017 model of the iPad packs a dual-core A9 chipset, which according to Geekbench is clocked at 1.85GHz, or so. The processor is coupled with M9 motion co-processor, and 2GB of RAM and either 32GB or 128GB of storage.
Furthermore, the new iPad sports an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front shooter, according to Gadgets 360, but there's more for the users to delve into. The Apple 9.7-inch iPad comes with access to over 1.3 million apps that are specifically designed for it.
