‘The New Celebrity Apprentice’ News: Host Arnold Schwarzenegger Quits Reality Show Over Trump
Vittorio HernandezInstead of telling the next season contestants of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” “You’re terminated,” host Arnold Schwarzenegger quit the show on Friday. He explained his leaving the reality show to U.S. President Donald Trump whom he replaced as host.
No To Another 'The New Celebrity Apprentice' Season
The former California governor says he loved every second working with the cast and crew of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” and is willing to work with them on another show, minus the baggage. Arnold Schwarzenegger was clearly referring to Trump as the baggage as he says he would not return for another season.
“I would decline. With Trump being involved in the show people have a bad taste and don’t want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show. It’s a very divisive period now and I think this show got caught up in all that division,” says the newly resigned host of “The New Celebrity Apprentice,” quotes Forbes.
Despite being the president of the U.S., Trump has remained the executive producer of “The New Celebrity Apprentice.” Arnold Schwarzenegger says that when viewers learned Trump is still with the reality show as executive producer and receiving money from the program led to audience boycott, Mashable reports.
Sponsors Boycott 'The New Celebrity Apprentice'
Even half of the sponsors of “The New Celebrity Apprentice” also left the show as part of the #GrabYourWallet campaign. Shannon Coulter, campaign organizer, says it is pretty clear that Trump’s brand name is toxic. But Trump is blaming the show’s plummeting rating on Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the concluded season, the show had 4.9 million viewers and 1.3 rating among adults in the age bracket 18 to 49. It is down by 46 percent from the Season 7 debut of the show in 2015.
“The New Celebrity Apprentice” with Arnold Schwarzenegger ended with Matt Iseman, host of “American Ninja Warrior” declared winner during the Feb. 13 finale, beating singer Boy George, Billboard reports. NBC has not renewed it yet for one more season.
