Google has partially launched a new video conference service for business users called Meet by Google Hangouts just before its official launch with an iOS app that was made available on the App Store but it was removed almost immediately. Google in 2016 announced that Hangouts has been planned to have a more enterprise format integrated into G Suite helping businesses to keep employees connected.
TechCrunch reports that Meet by Google Hangouts, which the full title was included in the listing on the App Store is designed for business-oriented purposes of it existing Hangouts platform. Meet allows users to initiate video calls with each other as well as in groups although it increases the user's limit from ten Hangouts up to 30 users, according to Apple Insider.
The app has integrated G Suite versions of Gmail and Google Calendar, which will show a list of different meetings and participants that have been set, including a Join button that connects users to the meeting with options to mute and switch the video off when connected. Moreover, Meet by Google Hangouts features a primary video window that can be seen on the topmost screen, which shows a list of participants with smaller chat windows beneath.
One of the primary business-oriented features of Meet by Google Hangouts is its ability to make use of the dial-in numbers to access the meeting letting some users who don't have a reliable internet connection to also call in. However, Dial-in numbers are only available to G Suite Enterprise Edition customers.
Meet by Google Hangouts iOS app appeared on the App store for a short time before being pulled but Google has not done the same for the web interface. Users can still log into the web version using a web browser and a list of calendar appointments will greet them upon logging in, an option to key in a meeting code and a clock in a basic interface.
