Square Enix’s ‘Nier: Automata’ Endings: Get All Major & True Outcomes; Here’s How [Spoilers]
Pia MerciPlayers can get multiple "Nier: Automata" endings just like the first "Nier" game. However, gamers should note that it may be necessary for them to sacrifice their saved files to reach the "true" ending. Here is a quick guide on how to get all of the major endings -- especially the ultimate one.
According to Xtra Naughty Gaming's video, there are five main endings in "Nier: Automata." These are named after alphabet letters, A to E. Players need to replay the game and exhaust each possible choice to acquire each. The former "Nier" game encouraged its players to replay the game to attain a different progression in every playthrough. Finally, players will have to attempt every choice until they can find the ending that they can't retreat from.
"A" and "B" Endings
In ending A and B, 2B wins against Eve and concludes that the mission has finally come to an end. However, 9S is unveiled to be infected with a virus that eventually kills him and he is not permitted to transfer his data back to Bunker to reappear. 2B then kills 9S thereafter. But, then, the ending shows that there are still active machines that may need to be terminated. However, it is eventually revealed that 9S has successfully rescued his own data through the said machines. Players need to be playing either 2B or 9S to trigger these endings.
"C" and "D" Endings
9S is seen angrily explaining the pointlessness of the YoRHa unit's mission to A2. However, A2 makes 9S much angrier by saying that 9S, in fact, knew what was going on all along. Lastly, the player is left to choose between siding with A2 to stop 9S and picking 9S to avenge 2B's death. To trigger ending C, players have to play as A2 in this fight while for ending D, players have to choose as 9S to finish the fight.
True Ending "E"
Finally, ending C is said to be the "true" ending out of all the "Nier: Automata" endings. It is considered as the ultimate ending because of its exclusive outcome despite of an extreme genre switch in this game's path. Players will have to gamble their whole progress and save file to access this ending. The former "Nier" asks the player the same thing in order to obtain its ultimate ending. Moreover, Gamepur details that players need around 25 hours to reach the true ending although
