HTC 10 Evo Review: 2015 Hardware For 2017
Cris Xander JulianoHTC is on a bit of a slump recently when it comes to sales, but the smartphone manufacturer does a great job of designing its devices. Most people would argue that their main problem with HTC devices is the price tag. Hopefully, the HTC 10 Evo would change that. With that in mind, take a look at a review of the device by GSM Arena to see what makes the Evo so attractive, and see its shortcomings as well.
Display and performance
The device is equipped with a 5.5-inch screen with QHD resolution and protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It's supposedly scratch, smudge and reflection resistant, however it is recommended that you put a screen protector for this phone.
The maximum brightness reached 525nits which is an impressive reading. It features an auto-brightness mode although it won't give you an extra boost in very bright conditions.
The Evo has the Snapdragon 810 chipset under its hood, which is a bit disappointing because there are several other phones that feature the newer Snapdragon 820 for a far cheaper price. There's nothing wrong with the phone's performance, although its consistency is another matter as the device could occasionally heat up.
Camera and battery
The Evo sports a 16MP shooter with OIS as its main camera. The selfie camera is downgraded to an 8MP sensor. Its interface could get complicated at it only shows basic functions such as front/back camera toggle, HDR mode and flash mode. Everything else is in the long list on the left for a lot of scrolling and tapping.
The device carries a non-removal 3,200mAh battery, which isn't bad, however it needs to be noted that it will power an older chipset connected to a QHD screen. It does feature a QuickCharge 2.0.
Another downside that needs to be mentioned is the 32GB internal storage, which is the only one available, although you can expand it with a microSD card. HTC also decided to take away the 3.5mm headphone jack to make way for its BoomSound Adaptive Audio.
