Capcom has been wasting no time getting DLC out for "Resident Evil 7." Despite the fact that it just launched last January 24, two DLC packs have come out since its release-and it's already promised a third. The first DLC, "Banned Footage Vol. 1" came out on January 31, around a week after Resi 7 went live. Two weeks later, Capcom celebrated Valentine's with the release of the second expansion, "Banned Footage Vol. 2." The teaser image for the third DLC, "Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero," raises more questions than answers, but at least we know it's coming.
'Not a Hero' on Dengeki Online Twitter
Dengeki Online posted this supposed teaser image to their Twitter account last February 18. The text reads "Extra Chapter: Not a Hero" and stars the Chris Redfield players meet during Resi 7's ending. When the credits start rolling, you see an in-game image of the same Redfield holding a weapon, and text that reads "Coming Spring 2017." Capcom has yet to release a more specific date for the DLC.
Chris Redfield as 'Not a Hero' DLC's Main Character
The biggest problem people had with that simple ending statement is that the character looks nothing like the Chris Redfield of Resident Evil 1, 5, and 6 fame. According to Games Radar, the credits write "Chris Redfield" for voice acting, but is he really? Forget the hair color and the drastic physical overhaul for a minute-this Redfield is shown rappelling down from a chopper bearing the Umbrella logo. Last thing everyone knew, Redfield was still thoroughly against these guys.
There are a lot of theories being thrown around, with the most popular one being that this is clone of Chris Redfield, or else the long-running background character Hunk, finally unveiled as the actual Chris Redfield. Confusing, to say the least, but that's just another reason to grab the expansion when it goes live.
"Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero" DLC will be free for download and will launch sometime this Spring. No word yet whether this DLC will come to PlayStation 4 first, given Capcom's timed-exclusivity deal with Sony, but the chances of that are pretty high.
