NVIDIA Quadro GP100 Pascal Graphics Card To Be Made Available In March
JPThe NVIDIA Quadro GP100 will be made available for the workstations. The next gen NVIDIA graphics card were initially made available only for the custom-server market. The high end NVIDIA graphics card is scheduled to be available in March.
Before the release of the NVIDIA Quadro GP100, consumers are limited with the Quadro P5000 or P6000 if their choice is to go with NVIDIA's Pascal architecture. The P6000 is based on the GP102 GPU that can also be seen on the Titan X Pascal. Due to the high cost of the two latest NVIDIA boards, users tend to go with the cheaper Maxwell or Keplar graphics card. The P6000 comes with a $6225 price tag.
The NVIDIA Quadro GP100 features the same GPU as that of Tesla P100 but with the added trademark NVIDIA touches. The high end graphics card comes with the blower-style shroud and a standard PCIe interface.
NVIDIA launched the Quadro GP100 along with five other Quadro graphics card that are now based on the Paschal architecture. These cards, according to Nvida, offers twice the performance of their previous graphics cards.
Compared to the other Quadros and NVIDIA's consumer-facing cards, the NVIDIA Quadro GP100 features an entirely different focus and architecture. According to NVIDIA, the GP100 boasts a 5 teraflops of FP64 performance. This is made possible by the GP100's extra 32 FP64 CUDA Cores per Streaming Multiprocessor.
The NVLink connector found in the NVIDIA Quadro GP100 allows users to link two cards. The connected cards will provide low latency data transfer and faster memory access. The GP100 features 1.4GHz memory speed and a memory bandwidth of 720GB/s. The NVIDIA Quadro GP100 release date is expected on March. No price has been announced for the GP100 but experts believe that it will be close to that of the existing Pascal based graphics card of NVIDIA.
