Alicia Vikander, now confirmed to be the next Lara Croft, was recently seen on-set in newly leaked pictures. The actress, as shown in the images, seemed to have undergone quite challenging physical challenges for the scenes of the upcoming "Tomb Raider" reboot.

In a post by Daily Mail, the 28-year-old Vikander donned a grey, low-cut top and tight black trousers in what seemed to be an escape scene from the new "Tomb Raider" flick. She was photographed on top of a wooden bar where various stunts presumably took place in the South African location of the shoot.

Vikander also wore the signature Lara Croft tie and was assisted by a wire while going back and forth from what seemed to be a plank laid out in the air. In the images, Vikander went all over the suspended plank. Even with a safety line strapped onto her, the stunts looked grueling and exhausting for the actress, who had to cool down with a splash of bottled water during the break.

One of the photos showed how Vikander was crawling on the plank with her hands tied, hinting a possible escape attempt by Lara. With such adventurous-looking stills now out, Vikander explained that this is only the beginning of Lara's quests. The movie acts more as a prequel to the version that Angelina Jolie made famous back in 2001.

As soon as Vikander was told that she will be playing Lara Croft, many reminiscent bits befell the actress, as she recalled her childhood games from way back. "I, with the rest of the world, was excited to see a female protagonist in a video game. I was a bit scared playing it when I was 12, 13. I had to go take little breaks," Vikander told Uproxx in an interview.

Lara aims to follow her father's footsteps in the "Tomb Raider" reboot, which in the movie will be played by Dominic West ("300," "Johnny English: Reborn" and "Punisher: Warzone"). The film is set to hit American theaters in March 16, 2018.
