Facebook Is Bringing Snapchat Like Stories As Add On Feature After Instagram Did The Same Thing!
Catherine G.The best of the industry tend to kind of copy the each other's best features. Be it Apple and Samsung or the recent Facebook imitation of Snapchat through Instagram- it is an age long tradition. The latest step taken by Facebook only adds further to this belief. Facebook has released a new feature called Facebook Stories to smartphone users working on iOS and Android users. This feature is quite similar to Snapchat stories feature which allows users to put up random moments and pictures for view in a time bound manner (24 hours).
The roll-out of Facebook Stories is restricted to Ireland currently but if it well received by users there, it will be rolled out to other countries in future. Facebook always utilises this mechanism of first testing features in certain countries before going for a complete rollout for the world. Facebook has also emulated the best features of Snapchat either directly or through its owned companies.
Only last year, Instagram (now owned by Facebook), brought out its own version of "Stories" on its app. This feature is a 99% copy of the previously newsmaking Snapchat stories. Now, Facebook is implementing Instagram stories on its own independent platform infused with the social media giant app interdace. It is essentially allowing the Facebook stories to expand fruitfully on the massive user base that Facebook offers. Facebook Stories will be the exact copies of how Snapchat stories work, aesthetics aside.
Users will be able to add photos and videos to their Facebook Stories dashboard and these moments will appear on top of the newsfeed column. These photos will not be uploaded separately on the Facebook timeline and will vanish in 24 hours. Facebook also allows users to add several amazing geofilters and selfie filters to these images. Snapchat's popularity is a challenge to Facebook's established name in the younger audience working mostly through their smartpphones. Facebook was unable to buy Snapchat a few years back for a good amount of money, so it is a logical business move to copy the competitor.
