iOS 10.2.1 Completed Version Is Officially Here; Update Carries Security, Bug Fixes
Caitlin MooreApple has rolled out the completed version of iOS 10.2.1 and it is said to carry several bug and security fixes for the iPad and iPhone. Officially released on Monday, the new OS is downloadable over-the-air from the General Section under the Settings Menu or via iTunes. Learn more about what's included in the Apple update below.
Suggested to be a minor update, the security content description that came with iOS 10.2.1 detailed the improvements on the auto unlock, contacts and kernel issues. All the updates are made available for Apple devices from iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPod touch 6th generation and their later versions.
Some of the issues fixed include the auto unlock problem that causes the Apple Watch to unlock when the gadget is off the owner's wrist. Another concern that was addressed is the sudden termination of the Contacts app when users process a contact card. Users can view the full details here.
Interestingly, one fix that users reportedly want to be fixed by the iOS 10.2.1 update is the 30 percent bug problem, which began after the rollout of iOS 10. However, as reported by Mobile&Apps, the Cupertino-based tech giant has not acknowledged the issue yet. Also, the release notes that came with the new OS did not include anything about the battery problem.
That said, users are left to test whether iOS 10.2.1 update actually delivered a silent fix to the 30 percent bug. For the uninitiated, the said bug reportedly causes iOS devices to shut down when the battery reaches 30 percent. Some users claimed that the battery quickly drops to 1 percent when it should be 30 percent then automatically turns off.
Apple device owners who have already updated to iOS 10.2.1 may now see if the bug still persists. And if you have the time, please leave a comment below to let us know if the update actually worked for you.
