Meitu is a trending photo app that is making a buzz in the United States because of its easy and convenient feature that lets users beautify their pictures. Built to enhance images, the mobile app created by Chinese company Xiamen Meitu Technology reportedly hits the ninth place in the Photo & Video category from the App Store. See more details about one of the most used image beautification tool below.

According to USA Today, Meitu is now the 68th most popular free tool on the App store this week. It was also ranked 973rd among all the apps in the Apple Store as per the research firm App Annie. Additionally, it has now passed the ranks of VSCO and Boomerang in the Photo & Video category, reportedly.

But what is Meitu and why is it currently trending? In the description of the tool from the App Store, Meitu is a photoshop that only requires a single touch to enhance images and apply finishing touches to pictures, which could be the reason why a lot of users are into it. There is an option for brightening the eyes, facelift and skin enhancements such as blemishes removal.

Users can also slim the face and elongate legs of a full body image to make it look taller. There is also a selection of backgrounds and frames that users could try for more fun and artistic photos. To those who are fond of photo collage, Meitu also includes several modes that can be used to combine images in a collage.

Meanwhile, a report by Time pointed out the difference of Meitu from Instagram. The filters of the Chinese manufactured app are categorized accordingly into collections, unlike Instagram. An example of this is the Artistic collection, which contains filters that boost the colors and textures of the image.

Meitu, however, has been available for eight years now. It is reportedly a known beautification tool in Asia but it's only recent that it made gained popularity in the U.S. Check out how the app works in the clip below.
