Marvel Teases A More Evil Captain America In 'Secret Empire'

Marvel fans may have something intense to look forward to in the form of their next major comic event. A new teaser released could mean that the ever-loved Avenger might finally embrace the evil bestowed upon him.

Revelations from The Nerdist in past issues revealed that Captain America has been a full-fledged Hydra agent since he was young. Regardless of the reception, the controversial move of "Secret Empire "could see Cap going deeper into his Hydra side.

According to IGN, an image went viral and stirred fans' interests on the possibility that the issue will look further into Rogers leading Hydra eventually.  A caption follows the Marvel tease saying, "A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand." This implies that the faction may have officially collapsed after what transpired in "Civil War II." In the latter, the Avengers were dismantled by the premonitions of an Inhuman known as Ulysses, which involved Captain America being killed by Spider-Man.

The story of Captain America is presumed to eventually revolve around his colleagues finding out about his secret. Despite Marvel not releasing any official information just yet, assumptions claim that "Captain America: Steve Rogers" and "Captain America: Sam Wilson" writer Nick Spencer will have something to contribute -- but this is still not confirmed at this point. A possibility from the same IGN source suggests that the issue could either be a crossover of the aforementioned books or a whole different story.

The "Secret Empire" is one of the lesser-known terrorist groups in the Marvel Universe -- one that is closely linked to Hydra. One other guess on the motive of the issue is that the group could go against Red Skull's own Hydra group. As for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is not known if it will affect the future stories. "Secret Empire" will be Marvel's official event theme and will come by summer of this year.
