Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' "Kong: Skull Island" recently explained their actions regarding their choice of time and plot for the reboot. As there was a variety of versions where the mythical monkey was put in, the upcoming film may be one to strike further intrigue to those waiting on.

"Kong: Skull Island" revealed a few trailers recently, showcasing the focus of the film, as well as the characters around the title. However, one of the standout factors is how it was set during the Vietnam War. Because of it, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts told the tale on how the idea came about and was finalized eventually.

According to Empire, Vogt-Roberts pitched the idea of the Vietnam War setting despite the plot said to be set back in 1917. After thorough discussion, it seems as if the management agreed to apply the story for an additional "oddity" to the film. "The script I first read took place in 1917. But when I started talking to the Legendary [Entertainment] guys, I was thinking, 'What weird King Kong movie would I want to see?' So I pitched them the Vietnam War connection, literally thinking they were gonna laugh me out of the room," Vogt-Roberts explained.

The director added that, with credit to Legendary, the company more than approved the idea, saying that they will "figure it out." So far, the idea was rather accepted and made the cut, being depicted clearly through the trailers. In other related reports by Slash Film, new concept art for "Kong: Skull Island" went viral all over the web, showing a new series of terrifying imagery of the massive ape.

"Kong: Skull Island" iterates how a group of soldiers went out to an untouched island in the Pacific Ocean, who are uninformed of the monstrosities lingering within. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman, Tobey Kebbell, John C. Reilly, Jing Tian, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham and Corey Hawkins. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
