Facebook And Other Companies Are Making Chatbots As 'Human' As Possible
Jason GlennChatbots has been one of the most entertaining things to ever exist in this modern age. Massive sites like Google, Facebook and Microsoft and even fast food chains like Pizza Hut are now testing with the "bot-to-human" interactions making them as real as possible.
CNET reported that Chatbots' human-like face or voice plays important role in reaching out to people to company brands like Pizza Hut where consumers previously used to fill out order forms on a website. When in effect, the chatbots help customers interact and make a more personal experience.
"Chatbots have the potential to minimize user experience friction," said a UC Berkeley grad student named Nikhil Mane. "Engaging users is an activity that requires a lot of investment," she continued in an event where students designed their own chatbot. CNET also explained that communicating with chatbots seems to be easier and captivating than online forms for the company and the people.
Studies have shown that people are on their smartphones especially on their messaging apps and mostly on social media networks like Facebook are reasons why companies like Pizza Hut and Mastercard are connecting to consumers with chatbots. Last April, Facebook introduced the Messenger App to chatbots where it is easier for the companies to open or create chatbots for themselves.
The chatbots on Facebook Messenger are very successful. One example is a "Call of Duty" chatbot garnered 16 million chats in 24 hours. Absolut also lets consumers get a free drink at the bar using their very own chatbots. Kemal El Moujahid, the product manager for Facebook Manager said that it won't be long before some startups will launch a chatbot-first app the same way consumers will see them on mobile users and will enhance certain features to an app.
"A 'bot is not a person, And 'botmakers shouldn't pretend that this isn't software," a reminder from Nkihil Mane about chatbots. In the near future, these AI-powered software will be smarter as developers will make it perfect for people.
