Capcom is setting its expectation high for "Resident Evil 7" as it is predicted to sell 4 million copies at launch. Skeptical? Here's how people have reacted.

IGN recently reported that CAPCOM is setting everybody's expectations about "Resident Evil 7" being able to sell 4 million copies on its initial launch. The game will officially be released this coming January 24 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and these figures are for all platforms supported.

Capcom explained the details of their forecast in an English Q&A. The publisher is positive about the game's path, considering it as a "foundation title." The game then, is believed to be keeping its steady sales due to digital distribution though this may not be limited to the next two fiscal years, but on a longer scale.

As IGN pointed out, this is still a low sales forecast and is pretty much similar to how "Resident Evil 6" was "disappointing" with its 4.8 million copies sold before 2013. Fans had mixed reactions regarding Capcom's expectations despite being low in comparison with the other titles in the series.

One particular comment was from dynamitecop, which pointed out that Capcom wasn't able to deliver what the fans have kept asking for even after redesigning the game from ground up and making it look like nothing else from the series.

These figures might change in drastic numbers as the release date draws nearer or ultimately once released, but we have nothing but high hopes for the series and its attempt to going back to its roots while introducing entirely new mec
