The PlayStation community is deeply disappointed when Sony reportedly rejected Bethesda's mod support for games like "Fallout 4" and the upcoming remastered version of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." But who is really at fault here?

When Bethesda announced the unfortunate news on the official Bethesda.net blog, the publisher put the blame on Sony, stating that the company has disapproved the use of mods on its console.

"Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition." Bethesda said. "Like you, we are disappointed by Sony's decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive."

However, some fans are more skeptical with the way Bethesda placed the blame on Sony, saying that the real reason why mods are not available on the PS4 in the first place is due to the publisher's alleged exclusivity with Microsoft, an accusation that Bethesda VP Pete Hines has denied on Twitter.

"That is absolutely not true," Hines said. "We would have released mods on PS4 some time ago if it was up to us. We were told no."

Lack of mod support on the PS4 will spell bad news for Bethesda's upcoming remaster for "Skyrim." Most PS4 users have said that they will skip buying "Skyrim" for their consoles mainly because of the lack of mods.

Hines have stated previously that Bethesda is exploring other options to get mods to work on PS4.

"We can't get into specifics," Hines said on Twitter in response to a fan, "We still want to get mod support of some kind out on PS4."

"If we didn't care, we wouldn't commit to keep working on it and find a way to make something happen," Hines also said in response to another Twitter user.

Will Bethesda be able to make"Fallout 4" and "Skyrim" mods work on the PS4 in the future? Stay tuned for updates.
