Whatsapp Beta Testing 'Quick Quotes' With An Additional Reply Arrow Button In App's Latest Android Version
Dheeraj RThe latest update on Facebook-owned, Whatsapp, suggested that the company is beta testing its messaging application for quick quotes functionality. The reports suggest that Whatsapp has added a reply arrow button into its chat interface in order to help the users to reply to any particular message in their chats.
Phone Arena reported that the people would now be able to send a reply to any quote marked in the conversation. In order to do so, the app users would have to just tap on any message in a conversation, which would then show a reply button on the screen.
Further, if the Whatsapp users choose the reply arrow function, the selected quotes message would then appear as a preview inside the text entry box. Android Authority reported that the users can then write their reply and post it in the conversation with the selected quotes message.
Besides, the company has stated that with the quick quotes functionality, any user in the Whatsapp group chat can click on the attached reply thread and they will be directed to that part of the conversation from where the quoted message was lifted.
The reports suggested that in order to help other users to understand the context of the original quote and its reply, Whatsapp application will highlight the original message in blue for some time. NDTV said that the only drawback of the new Whatsapp quick quotes feature is that it cannot help the users to select series of messages at the same time in order to reply.
With all the reports about the functioning of the new feature, it is reported that Whatsapp is testing the beta for Quick Quotes functionality on Android beta 2.16.118 version. This means that only those users who have an updated version of the application would be able to try out the beta functionality.
The Whatsapp beta version can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. The users can also use the APK mirror to side load the beta on their Android smartphones. Besides, whether the new Whatsapp feature would make it out of the beta version or not is still ambiguous.
